when people on here have said they give there guinea pig a 10mg buscopan tablet crushed in water for gas/bloat,is this buscopan for humans?

Yes, the gold packet. I've given my pigs it whenever they are in pain with stomach as directed by a rodentologist. I even told my NOW vet and altho she obviously didn't approve she didn't say anything about it lol.

and is that the right dose for it,a 10mg tab in 1ml?

i think one of my piggies has is a bit bloated, she is eating and drinking and is active but her belly looks a bit biggerand harder than normal

Yeah it was one tablet crushed with two teaspoons, then emptied into a syringe (1ml) finger over hole, then water sucked up, shuck and fed slowly as they dribble sometimes.

I can't remember why I was advised, only the 2nd from last time, Mali - he was actually experiencing gut failure (he died within 4 hours) but it was to relieve some of the stomach pain he was obviously having. I'm not sure what to do with bloat, I'm sure I've seen 1000's of posts about it, if she's acting normal, perhaps you should just give her a light massage and make sure she's drinking enough, see if it goes down naturally first before considering medication?

Search for bloat on the forum :)

I have had a look and there are some mixed reviews,I will take her to the vets in the morning, from what i have read its not something i should leave.

I have given the buscopan there and gave her a little rub!I hope this helps her!

Thanks for your help :)

I'm hope everything is ok, I've had two years of losing my pigs quite quickly, one every 6 months or so until last July. So far, touch wood, I've managed almost 3/4ths of the year without any illness at all and now have just noticed the pig who''s started being skittish has a small area in his eye thats milky. Vets for me too!
