Teazel 2017
Junior Guinea Pig
I only just joined and have 5 guinea pigs. Before that I had 4 and 1 died and I got 2 more....
Buttons came with 2 of her siblings, Teazel and Snowy, and her cousin, Timtam. She also had 2 brothers, but we did not get them as we did not want 30 guinea pigs. She came from a nearby lady who breed Abyssinans, and Timtam, who is a Short Hair, was very strange as her entire family line was Abyssinan, but back to the story....
Buttons was massive compared to her sisters, and was not as shy. she loved just to be held and hand fed whereas the others preferred run time and games. She loved long brushing sessions. She was also very naughty and one day I put an ice pack in there on a 40 degree plus day, and I think she was the main culprit in eating it, though the others helped. One, day, 5 days before Christmas, we were out during the morning, and when we got back, the best I can describe it is that Buttons appeared to be having an Epilepsy fit. I panicked and brought her inside. we put her on an ice pack in the carrier under the aircon. She seemed to get better after that and was chirpy during the day, we kept her inside. but just before dinner she had another fit and died. I have no idea what of. This was all back last Christmas, 2017. We got 2 more piggies 2 days later, for Teazel, Snowy and Timtam. We got Ruby and Rita from a long haired guinea pig breeder, also near by. We were actually lucky to get them, as the lady had 20 boys and only 3 girls left. The other girl, was Ruby's sister, and looked identical to her. We were warned that Ruby might be pregnant, but it has been 9 months, and so far no babies lol. I plan to be extra careful this summer and hope I will not lose anymore guinea pigs. Though I am not sure what caused Buttons' death.
