Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I'm on the look out for a new friend for Curly. We lost Vinnie at the end of May and I'm having a hard time finding Curly a friend. We usually rescue from our local animal shelter they are a big established rescue that's been in our city for years they do mainly cats and dogs but have a steady supply of guineas. They don't have any single males so I've waited.. I've tried other localish well know rescues and even applied to some of the big ones still no individual guineas or I've not been selected to apply. I've seen alot of people on Facebook say they are guinea pig rescuers no other pages, just a Facebook presence. I'm nervous as to who these people are. Is this the new thing now and are they to be trusted? I have reached out to a few and only one has got back but I'm nervous about meeting a stranger from Facebook with no real background on them or the guinea pig. Am I funding a breeder or a hoarder? Or am I thinking about it too much!?

So sorry you lost Vinnie

If you can travel a little further afield it is often well worth it. Millhaven in Keighley West Yorkshire is a well established Guinea Pig rescue that offers bereaved boar dating too. I think they are on fb, here’s a screenshot of their details

The people you are finding with only a Facebook presence, well, anybody can call themselves a rescue and it actually could be anything.
A reputable rescue via our recommended guide is your best bet.

The Potteries are in Kidsgrove if that’s not too far.
Hope you can find a companion for Curly soon.

Yes I had a good chat with the lady who deals with the guineas and they had just rehomed the single male they had she recommended another local small rescue and they also had non. It's a good problem for the rescues I just hope Curly is ok, he's eating ok and everything else. He was a snuggle monster and I'm sure he's missing that. Mine just done cut it!
