Hi I am in desperate need of a c and c cage but being 17 means I currently can’t afford one . If anyone has any spare c and c pieces or wants to donate any c and c cages for my guineapigs that I rescued from a women keeping them in a hamster cage I would really appreciate it

A cheaper housing option for now could be setting up a play pen/indoor run for them. Or buying a cage and setting up a play area they can access 24/7.

Would you be able to cover the vet costs? I’m assuming (perhaps wrongly) that you love with your parents. Are they not able to help you with buying one?

A lot will depend on where you are based of course.
It may also be worth contacting any local rescues and explaining the situation to them, as often they have donated cages or spare bits they can sell to raise much needed funds.

Please do bear in mind that when taking on guinea pigs as pets, the cage is usually actually the cheapest thing you will need to purchase.
The ongoing expense of good quality hay and pellets as well as setting aside money for a vet fund quickly add up.

If you let us know roughly wehre you are based I am sure people will be able to make suggestions of proper and inexpensive cage options.

I am paying for everything myself including hay , pellets , vegetation and now I’m saving up for cage and fleece

Hopefully someone will be able to donate something to you.

Can I ask how you will be able to cover the vet costs should they need to be seen? I’m afraid guinea pigs aren’t as cheap as some people may think, and wondering if you took them on after thinking about this?

What are they living in at the moment, and how big is it? Are they boys or girls?

:agr: I attach our Cage Size Guide to help you ensure you get the correct size cage. They need a lot of room, particularly if they are boys who need a larger cage to help stop them falling out and fighting.

Having a separate vet fund is essential. Vet fees can easily run into several hundred pounds for a medical issue, and out of hours emergency vets can be up towards £100 just for a consultation.

They are boys and the largest one I could buy at the pet shop

I would get a play pen in the meantime, and set it up around their current cage. If they have access to it 24/7 it could help with space issues. How old are they?
