Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows where to get cheap coroplast C&C bases? And fleece liners? I have 2 male piggies who have outgrown their standard cage. The only available option for a bigger cage seems to be a C&C cage... but at an extremely high cost. I've managed to get some C&C grids off vinted but now I'm looking for bases and fleece liners. I can't find any bases below £30 (and I'm going to make them a loft too so that'll be an extra coroplast cost) and fleece liners are around £50! Anyone know where I can find affordable bases and liners from? Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum

Yes a c&c cage is really the only suitable option for two boys. Sadly pet shop cages are never big enough particularly for boars.
Two boys need 5x2 c&c.

You can buy coroplast from wickes or even from Amazon.
If you are happy not to use proper liners, you can use washable puppy/incontinence pads and then just lay a fleece blanket on top. Works the same as a proper liner but is cheaper.

As changing their cage constitutes a change in territory, you have to be careful when you move them. That change in territory means they go into a two week period of reestablishing their bond and during that time you may see an increase in dominance. In compatible pairs, this is minimal disruption but in some teenage pairs and those where there may be underlying hierarchy issues; the disruption can be more severe.
To help minimise the impact, it is important to use bedding from their current cage in their new cage when you move them. This transfers scent from one cage to another and helps them still see it as their territory.

You also need to be a little careful with a loft with some teenage boar pairs.
Some are absolutely fine with them and enjoy using them; others prefer to never use ramps.
The issue lofts can pose in some boar pairs is if one piggy claims the ramp and upper level as their territory, they can refuse to let the other piggy use it.

I’ve added a guide below which further explains territory changes and how they can affect boar pairs

I use puppy pads/ incontinence liners - I got mine off Amazon 2 for £10
I use vet bed ( I have a skinny pig) and cheap fleece liners
I bought my coroplast off Amazon too and I’ve used the spare to create darkened corners
I made a lid for my c&c cage
I haven’t got a loft but use cardboard boxes with 2 exits cut out - the boys love to rearrange them by chewing the cardboard
Good luck

You can get Proplex (coroplast) from Wickes - it’s in large sheets and can be cut and folded it to the size of your C&c cages - measure twice, cut once! Much cheaper than buying pre-made ones. I also made ramps out of square guttering. I use washable incontinence pads and fleece blankets for the main floor covering and then pee pads of various sizes on top. These are easily made if you’re handy with a needle and thread. I don’t have ramps anymore as mine stopped using them. And now I have stacked cages after rescuing 5 pigs, so they’re impossible to do. I hope you get sorted soon.

Oh and you might want to get document binders to slide onto the edges of your coroplast - it stops them chewing it!

Thank you they do love a cardboard box

It's always worth checking ebay for fleece. I got some zorb ones (used but absolutely fine) for a real bargain price. My boys don't care about them being pink with unicorns! I use bobble bath mats on top of fleece (as do many others) They need to be without rubber backing.
We buy songmics grids from amazon, about £30 for 24.
