What size of C&C cage would I need to build that would accomdate 7 female guinea pigs?

I currently have 6 girls, Ruby, Sadie, Rosie, Matilda, Madison and Lilee, mum said I can keep one girl of Ruby's litter so that would make 7 piggies.

Even better news this morning I was telling her about this forum and all of your set ups and she said if I wanted I could make a C&C cage:))

I would want it to have at least two levels and I have about 6ft length to play with where I want to put it and about 3ft width, so would a two tier 6 x 3ft be big enough for them?

I could have one in the kitchen and that would be 5ft by 3ft again two tier I'm not sure which would be best:{

At the longest they will be like this for a year or so until I can get my rabbit bonded and give the pigs their own bedroom which is a spare room of mine with my rabbit dougal in it, this can have a C&C cage running all the way around it with all of my piggies in :)

Any info would be great :))

i have 7 piggies in a 7.5 x 4 C&C but in a few weeks this will be going down to 6 piggies in a 6x4.

guinea pig cages works on the basis of 4ft for 2 5ft for 3 etc so 9ftx 2ft but i would say 6 by 3 with a top level would be fine :)

hope that makes sense

This is what i have for my 8 girls, a stacked 2x4 2x4 C and C cage with 2x2 kitchen area

Here is a website with guidelines to cage sizes:

A two tier 3x6 would be plenty! However, make sure that the lover story is easy accessible for cleaning. For instance, I can pull out the bottom correx tray for cleaning.

thanks for you info, I was worried 6x3 wouldn't be big enough:red
I will have to come up with something so I can get to the lower level, it might just be for 4/5 piggies or 7 it depends on how things work out, lets just say Lilee isn't the best behaved with other piggies :(|)

Sorry, I got interrupted before I could finish my maths.

According to that website, you need the equivalent of 2x9 grids for 7 piggies. 2x9 = 18 grids square. That means that a 3x6 grid one story cage is adequate. If you can create a hayloft or two, your girls will have plenty of space!

Yep I was gonna say this too :)

I have 4 girls in a 6'X2.75' cage which is pretty big, and C&C grids are even bigger than a foot, so I think that'd be fine for 7, especially with a bit of a second storey, even if it wasn't a full second story :)
