Hi, i'm planning ahead.......

At the mo my 3 babies are happy in a nero4, cos they are only little, however i'm well aware they need a bigger cage and i'm planning on making a C&C cage......when i get some time off!

I havent got a huge amount of floor space, so wanting to go upwards!

Problem i have is it needs to be ''3 and 1/2 year old boy proof'' ......although hes great with the piggies when supervised, i'd hate him to be able to access them in an open top cage.....just in case!

Also little Simba & Buster are great climbers and jumpers, so i'm almost sure they would get out!

So...... checked out C&C designes, found a couple of closed 2 tier layouts on Cavy cages but they dont look very sturdy or safe.

Has anyone got a closed in 2 tier cage big enough for 3 or maybe 4...as i'm so tempted to rehome one of those lovely bores! Or has anyone seen a good, sturdy design? ? .......If so could you let me know, show me a pic or any advice or nudge in the right direction please.

Thanks

I don't have an enclosed c & c but have had an open 2 level one. You use the grids to help "sure up" the top level or if you're wanting 2 separate levels without ramp access you can use a board as a divider between the 2 levels.
If you use cable ties either instead of or as well as the connectors they are extremely sturdy.
Hopefully someone will be along with pics of one or has/had one :)

hi thanks Niki , id like to have 2 tier with a ramp so they can all use both levels

I found this pic of a 3 storey one i had in a cupboard. As you can see, plenty of cable ties :))

that looks great! Great use of an empty cupboard! Unfortunately with 2 kids i dont have any spare space whatsoever!

I've been doing a bit more designing and i think i'm somewhere near something that might be ok! Just need to work out a few bits and bobs!....might have to enlist the help of my Dad and his soldering iron!

still planning.......

i think ive come up with a good enclosed cage design, although it will be a couple of months still before i'm off work and have time to do it, but need to get everything planned and ready. And my local B&Q have the grids in at the mo, its also pay day tomorrow (yipeeeee) so thought i'd get them straight away....but........

i'm really bad with maths, so wondered if anyone could tell me what size is best,

the biggest floor area i have would be 4 grids by 2 grids, i can go upwards no probs.

i need good space for my 3 to run around, as i'm out during the day. Ideally i'd like to take in a neutered bore to go with my girls, so would like space for all 4

will 2 tiers of 4 x 2 grids be enough space? or should i go for 3 tiers of 3 x 2 grids?
