Hi there

I'm considering upgrading my piggies housing to a 4*2 c&c cage (I have two sows) with the plan to get the loft extension and maybe even the stand too.

I currently have a two tier ferplast 240 incage from pets at home (which I know many people will feel that's too small before anyone comments on it) so I know this will be an improvement for them!

My question is that my girls currently live in my daughter's playroom and in order to fit the bigger cage in I plan to lay my 4*2 IKEA kallax unit down and position the cage on top.

The unit is 39cm and 2 c&c will be about 70cm so there will be an overhang on both front and back. Do you think this will be ok?

Just trying to balance giving my fur girls more space but not having to get rid of any ofy human girls toys!

Thoughts will be greatly appreciated!

Hello what lucky piggies 🥰
How much is the overhang ? Is it 31cms front and back or 15.5cms front and back ? You could always put a cheap piece of plywood over the IKEA unit to support it - or you could keep the unit upright and add extra wood on top and use the unit to store the guinea pigs things ? Good luck - they will be happy girls 🥰

I have used 2 back to back (4x1)Kallax before and placed the CC on top.

Our current CC is on top of Kallax, (4x4)at each end another in the middle and furniture board balanced across the top.

This way you can still use the storage spaces underneath.

I do have to use a step stool to reach the middle. We have an unusual shape due to our space, along with a built in shelf being used as an extension & piggies having to be neighbours.

Good luck with the guinea pigs renovations.
