I started with one of those cages, it's still used as a temp home, and was where Sven stayed while we adapted our c and c cage. In all honesty there are cheaper ways to make a decent cage that would compare to a c and c one. For example a garden play pen or wire run is basically the same thing only the panels are bigger. I have both and at times wish I didn't bother with the expense, I got a 6x2 with a 2x2 loft for one guinea lion. Now I got 2 piggies they are in an 8x2. But the c and c or the pen make little difference.

U can always make a similar style cage (open top) with a Wooden frame and some 25mm mesh from wickes. U can use Lino or correx to line it... It's up to you just think is it piggie/lion safe...

Thank you! I will definitely look for some garden play pens and think of a way to make it safe! I have to agree with you! C&C cages can be really expensive!

I got one off eBay for £25-35 the panels are 60cm x 60cm and u get 8 which means u can make them a cage upto 6ft by 2ft if u like, one panel has a door. They don't have the c&c connectors but I took these off my c&c cage anyway and used cable ties. If u use correx it's abot £15 for an 8ft x4ft sheet from a sign makers.

One thing to consider... If it's on the floor they can be allowed to go in and out alone, but u will always be over them looking down so they will scarper when u approach. If it's made on a stand or table your not just so high above them but they are not free to come and go...
