C+C= fun!

I'm in the process of making a new home for the piggies out of C&C. It will have a second level and be closed as my son's kitty lives here with me. I chose red grids, and the second level is going to be in a 'you" shape.
It is going to take several weeks to complete with ordering the coroplast but I'm having fun designing their home as well as looking in the photo's to see what others have done with levels and haylofts.
The piggies will have a nice home once it is done, but does everyone else have the experience of really enjoying the process of creation their Pig Mansion?
 
The planning bit was was fun... the making bit was hard :red... but the overall result was fabulous :))!
 
I do! I do all the requests and my husband makes it hee hee hee.

Can't wait to see what you come up with it sounds like fun and red grids? Where do you find them then?

I ordered from this company, they have regular grids and also curved ones. I got an electric saw and cut out all the 'grid' parts of the curved ones and used the curved frames as struts to reinforce the second level.

They also offer clear acrylic panels cut to fit standard grids, so the front of the cage (ahem, I mean mansion) will have the grid centers cut out and clear acrylic installed to be like windows so I can see in and they can see out more easily.

I'm from Texas.
I bought something from Australia recently and the postage was not too outrageous, maybe you could just ask what the shipping costs might be?
The grids are actually pretty lightweight. When I used the sawto cut the grid I found that the inner grid part is twisted wire which is then coated, it is only the outer frames which are solid coated metal.
 
I have very nearly finished mine - just doing the piggy bedspreads over the next week or so (and another cage thing which has to remain TOP SECRET for now as it is half done and I am still pondering on how to do it - problem solving is half the fun). Also need to order the perspex for the back of the hayloft when I get paid - think that is this week.

Although I have to admit I am still making minor tweeks - need to move a door to another side so they can get to their corrall :(|)... Wait till I start work on the corrall!

I have loved every minute of it - from researching, to designing - lots of paper in the recycler!

Also it is the first big thing I have made in ages and I was so proud of myself when it seemed to be finished - I have learned that a C+C is never truly finished though!

The only thing was - when I finished making the coroplast trays I was slightly horrified at how big the cage was but I soon got over it and am currently wondering if anyone will notice in the house if I sneek another cube length on ;)

The corrall idea is stopping those cravings for now though as they will have a two story 3 x 4 grid cage with 3 x 1 hayloft plus a 5 x 3 corral to romp in for floor time - they have more room than we do - especially now that the piggies cage has taken over the dining room - smaller computer table now in place, dining room table up against wall - breath in everyone.

Now the only thing missing really is the piggies - we are getting our furry girls in 2 or 3 weeks and I can't wait - we have been planning this since last August and I will be such a proud piggy mum when they get here. SO EXCITED!
