I currently own 8 guinea pigs, 3 sows and 5 boars (one neutered who lives with the girls). My herd of 4 live in a homemade cage which is about 2 x 4 with a 2 x 2 level (in grids). I have made lots of space in the room they live in and I have been considering building them a C & C cage because there is 4 of them and I think they would appreciate the space! At the moment they live next to a separated male and a pair of males - I am a little concerned because the pair of males are starting to get quite dominant with one another, perhaps this is because of the girls? If I build a C & C cage it will be at the opposite end of the room and it probably won't bother them as much. This is an image of their current cage:
And here is a picture of the area I am considering building them a C & C:
Does anyone have any recommendations on what shape/size I should build it? Or should I not build it and leave them where they are now? The maximum amount of grids I can fit for the length using the connectors is 6. I would rather build it bigger than smaller because there is a possibility that I might get a bigger herd in the future and I don't want to rebuild it once it's finished
