Hi all, have decided to transition from using paper on the floor of my piggies cage, to using some sort of fleece liner. I am upgrading them to a bigger c&c cage and have researched that fleece liner is better for the piggies, the planet, and also overall cheaper. Do I need to put doggy training pads under the fleece? And also could someone reccomend a fleece liner they used which is fairly on the cheap side :) I've been looking at a few but still am confused, some videos say to get a waterproof one, some say not to! Am very confused so any advice would help!

Thanks!

IMG_20210103_173343_464.jpg This was the polar fleece I purchased from my local garden centre the cherry tree barn ! ( They also do different patterns) they're £2.99 each. As well we this they do really cheap puppy pads 105 puppy pads for I think £9/£10 and I just put these under the polar fleeces. . The butterfly fleece (see below) I purchased originally for £2.99 but I think they've gone up to £4.99 from the onlinehomeshop so you can order them.IMG_20201212_214817_480.jpg
Good luck! :)

If you get pre-made liners with something like zorb middle then I find that you don’t need anything else under the fleece. That said I do use smaller fleece pads in high traffic areas so if it gets wet I can just change that rather than the whole fleece - which I only need to do once a week.

We‘re currently using pre-made fleece liners but are going to switch to noodle bath mats with a washable absorbent layer (incontinence pads or similar) underneath. The only reason we‘re doing this is because our piggies love noodle mats more than anything 😂

Our current ones are from Dunelm, they’re £5 per bath mat I believe :) they also do small noodle cloths for £1 which we put in hideys to make them extra cosy - they love it. I think the proper name for the noodle style is chenille (in case you wanted to browse for some online) :)

I got noodle mats on ebay. Shower mats for around 5.00. I put them in high traffic areas such as under their dolls beds. They need changing after a day or two.

We use absorbant cotton mattress protectors under our fleece, but if you buy ready made fleece cage liners you won’t need the absorbant layer.

If your c&c is 2x4 I’ve found cot sized mattress protectors (140cm x 70cm) fit perfectly.
