Hello,

I currently have 3 sows in the 140 ferplast. I'm looking to upgrade to a bigger cage (5x2).

The current cage is in two kallax cubes, I will need the next cage to do the same. My question is, can I use grids for a base, then the coroplast over it?

I have attached a photo :)

Thank you x

Yes, I have stacked one of my cages using the grids. I then have a cardboard base in the cage, covered by a thick layer of towels, puppy pads and mats so it doesn’t get wet.
Works well 👍🏻

Will it be okay if the storage cubes underneath have a gap between, will the cage be sturdy to handle the gap?

Are you able to make a stand using some extra grids? otherwise I guess it would be okay as long as the gap isn't too big.

It will need to big bigger than the current gap shown in the picture, I'm guessing 30(ish) cm more than what it is now.

The depth of the kallax is around 39cm. Currently cage depth is 71cm

30cm is a fairly big gap. And the overhang would be almost double widthways. I would say that's not really stable enough to put the cage on. I would use grids to make a stand if I were you. You can still use area underneath as storage. Have a look at the C&C cage thread pinned in housing for some ideas.

Thanks, I've got to convince the other half and I suspect he will say the c&c stand isn't as nice looking 😂
