Hello - this is probably a daft question but I'll go ahead and ask it anyway! Have been looking at the stacking cages on the C & C Cages website and I'm a bit confused - on the stacking cages pages it says they are "Sold as TWO of each cage" but the picture shows 2 cages with extra grids between them:

So do you get as many grids as in this picture (or equivalent based on whichever size cage you choose)? If not and it is just sold as two of each cage without the extra grids it would be cheaper to just buy two cages from them separately surely? This is probably really obvious but I have managed to confuse myself! I've emailed the company but they've not replied as yet.

It’s not a daft question.
It will be exactly as you see it here with the grids in between.
If you don’t have the grids in between, you won’t be able to get to the bottom cage as the wall of the bottom cage and the wall of the top cage will end up being joined so there will be no access - hope that makes sense.

Thanks @Guineapigfeet - I'm obviously very observant missing the big 'We Are Closed' notification!

Thanks @Piggies&buns - that all makes sense! I thought it must be sold as you see in the picture otherwise it wouldn't add up financially. Just got thrown by the wording.

I had my cage from this company two weeks ago. You won’t be disappointed if you order with them.

I have a 6x2 stacking cage,it is two cages ,one on top of the other.it is great if you have limited space for two cages.but the bottom cage is a pain to access ! i use aubiose on the bottom cage as it is such a pain to get to !

@eileen I'm currently pondering a 6x2 stacking cage (or in my case it will be a 5.5x2 as I'll have to lose one grid to wrap around a column in the room). My idea is that the guinea pigs will live in the top cage and the bottom cage will form (a secluded) part of their run, with a grid/grids that open to connect to the rest of their run (which will be moveable/collapsible). Whether this is structurally feasible I don't think I'll know until I've ordered the cages and had a play!

I made the above cage myself but 5x2. It worked really well. There are pics on this forum somewhere. Will see if I can find them :)

@Louise's Zoo That looks fantastic! Can I ask a toilet question?! There's obviously sleeping areas to the left and drinking/feeding to the right - do they just go wherever they please or is the back right a litter tray of sorts?

Unfortunately guinea pigs don't seem to be up for litter training! The trays at the side are next to hay racks which means a lot of poo and wee does end up in there while they munch on hay and can be emptied and cleaned out every few days but the piggies still pooed and weed all over the place and the fleece needed changing every 5 ish days :)

Thanks @Louise's Zoo - I shall probably have a fruitless go at litter training anyway and then give up! When I was last able to have pets I had two gerbils, Doris and Matilda, but I can't now remember what their habits were; I also had a hamster, Bodie (as in Bodie and Doyle...) and he had a definite 'spot'.

@Helen82 that will work very well,as you will have easy access to the bottom cage..lucky piggies,i would recommend c and c cages as everything is provided and easy to assemble .:)

I've got a 2x3 stacking cage which is connected by a 1x2 loft. I had to pay extra for the second ramp and had to cut a hole for it into the top level's plastic base myself to make a two-tier cage for my piggies.

They do stack, but if you want to make one big cage, you'll have to do some remodelling yourself. :)
