I am hoping to set up a c&c cage for my girls really soon as their cage is too small for them and don't really have the money to buy a new cage for them. With the c&c I could buy bits in stages plus it give the opportunity to extend etc.

I've noticed a few posts where people prefer cages and are actually trying to swap their c&c's over to cages.

Just wondered what people preferred and why?

I prefer my C&C - i made a massive one that takes up the whole of my little bedroom. It's easier to clean & I can sit in it with the piggies :))

Ohhh i love my C&C cage, and so do the piggy’s, they seem so much happier in it and can pop corn as much as they like....

Mine in total came to about £45.00, and that was including vet bed, which isn't really a necessity, but like you said you can always get more when you have the funds. It works out a lot cheaper than a large cage as well...probably even cheaper than a small one, would definitely recommend it!

Especially good if you need two of everything like I do!

Hope this helps.

B&Q have the grids for the cages atm..one of the cheapest ive found.. its called "cube storage system" at £22.98 i think.

i find C&C cages better for picking up pigs. easier to scoop them out rather than trying to pick them up through the little narrow doors

Yup, those are the ones i got, perfect for the job! :))

i have a C&C and i love it, its so big and gives the opportunity to change it around. I spent about £50 setting it up with vetbed (i should have ordered it online but was too impatient!) and i'm just adding bits as and when i can. And if my two boys ever fell out i would be able to easily split the cage in two for them.

definitely C@C - i had hutches, cages and would never go back! you can adapt it to how you awnt it, piggies LOVE it, esp with their ramp and upper hay level, and its easy to adapt have play things like their hammocks, etc!

and...its cheaper!

they're amazing arent they! got 2 packs in case they stopped selling them. had been trying to find some for around 5 months! great thing is i have enough to make a pen outside in the garden when i go home for summer and its so much cheaper than buying a ready made on from a shop!

i got mine from screwfix - prefer these to b&Q as the hotels are smaller and i feel a bit better.

personally I prefer cages...I have a c&c and a nero 4 and prefer the nero...I faffed around changing the c&c ie changing the shape, adding levels and ended up going back to the original design I started with. I dont like cleaning it out plus stuff gets on the floor - I think I am just messy tho lol.
I spent £45 on two packs from b&Q and ended up only using half of one pack, hence selling the rest on here. I spent £15 on the coroplast and just thought It would have been easier to just spend £73 on the nero to start with...

for some reason the thought of using them for a pen outside never even crossed my mind! good thinkin! i might go and get some more now...:))

My piggies prefer the C&C cage (4x2 plus 2nd level 2x2) but for me the cage was easier to clean and also on a stand which is better with my westie around (don't think she'd ever do anything but the cage was safer).

I think it depends on your space and what type of bedding you are planning to use. Each to their own I suppose. For the piggies I don't think that they care that much, they just want more space, however you provide it!

I had a C&C cage for my first pair of pigs a few years ago and i really loved it. it was cheap, a fantastic size and more to the point the pigs liked it! with my current boys i had them in a nero 4 sized cage for a while and decided to upgrade. i did think about C&C again but decided against it as its so much easier to clean a proper cage, which is essential when you have as many other animals as we do! lol i have them in a rabbit 140 as of today and the cage is huge, however it cost me around £160 to get the cage, 2 sheets of vet bed and a few toys and hammocks so much more expensive then a C&C.

I would say if the only caged animals you have are piggies i would defo go for a C&C.
