Hey everyone! I have two boars, currently living together in a FerPlast 160. They are approx 2 years old. In general they get on pretty well, some rumble strutting etc which they have always done, occasional humping, teeth chattering etc but no proper fights and will eat together etc. The issue I have is they don't really come out of the cage. They will happily take food from me so I interact with them this way but they hate being picked up, if I put them on my lap they either freeze or try to get back into the cage, so I have now stopped getting them out really. I have had them in an indoor run before but again they seem to just freeze, they seem happier in the cage! We live in a flat so do not have a garden.

Because of this I feel like an even bigger cage would be better, as they just spend so much time in there! I was looking at a 6x2 C&C cage from kavee cages - would people recommend this cage? We use sawdust (obviously dust extracted stuff suitable for small animals), so ideally want to stick with this, are the C&C cages okay to use with sawdust or do you need fleeces?

That sounds absolutely perfect!

You can use shavings and hay as bedding with a c&c as long as the correx base is deep enough to keep the bedding in.
To my knowledge of kavee (not personal experience) they can be quite shallow but I’m not sure if you had the option of a deeper base.

If you buy a correx base to fit in the bottom then that should hold most of the hay and shavings in place. You can buy grids a lot cheaper by looking a grid bookshelves on eBay or Amazon. These are £20 and you can buy correx type sheeting from Wicks

Amazon is a much cheaper option for the grids and if you Google there are sites that will sell you a correx base either in standard or bespoke sizes.
My boys are free roaming but to be honest they don't spend a lot of time out of their cage.
