Is it normal to bite bars? Bert has just started doing it today when I put them back in their cage. They have been in the play pen all day since 8am. He seems happy as he is eating, drinking but it. Also, Bert has started licking Ernie and he lets him..I think that’s a good sign lol

I think Bert just loves his food but I give them a teacup each, which is recommended

It can sometimes be attention seeking behaviour. Ensure they have plenty of things to chew on, and perhaps try changing toys in and out to keep them occupied. Plenty of hay and forage, sprinkle feeding pellets, and hiding veg rather than using bowls can sometimes help

It's for attention,my piggie gizmo bites the bars of his cage like something possessed at dinner time...or whenever the fridge is opened for that matter.
It's nothing to worry about if they are doing it for food..try ignoring him do not feed him,he will think well there's no point doing it if I don't get food lol.
Also less dominant piggies will lick the more dominant piggies so I wouldn't worry about that😊

They have lots of hay so that’s not a problem. They have a few chew toys, but it is the first time he has done it

I had to ignore him and I felt so bad! I was scared he would hurt his teeth, but as soon as I didn’t look or done something else he stopped

Haha I just tell mine to stop it,he looks at me as if to say...what mum?I'm not doing anything 😘🤣🤣🤣🤣
It is hard to ignore them but it is necessary and as you saw it did work👍
It has just started to happen today, by Ernie doesn’t do it. They have everything they need lol

Belle bites the cage bars every time I walk in the room, the others wheek, but she chooses to be more annoying to get attention LOL

I bought these from amazon and I’m gonna try and cable tie it to where he tends to chew. Plus I got this chew toy thingy
