hello , i was wondering how to go about cleaning otu piggies cage, they poop like nothign lol ,but thy havent really been otu much and **** think I'm a giant seagul lol. how do i calean otu their cage? not shure where to put piggies lol norm, carpet, but they so small they go hide and id nvr get them back and would dettol wipes be ok , my freind uses thm on her baby stuff, they say that they can be used on surface , just wasnt shur if piggies wld be ok with it?

I always sit my piggies on a towel on a chair where i can see what they are doing. I remove poos everyday as these build up. I then change the whole cages bedding once a week, i use fleece with towels so change it all. I then wipe the cage over with surface wipes and replace the fleece. Hope this helps.
It depends on what bedding you are using though.

I pick usually pick up the poos twice daily with my nine, but once daily should be enough with two. I use disposable latex gloves for that. Some people use a small handheld hoover.

You can put your youngsters in a cardboard box which you have lined with a plastic bag, which in turn is covered by a towel. Put a hide in. You may think about getting a carrier bag for vet visits anyway, so you could put them in there.

I think Wiebke means a pet carrier not a carrier bag lol :))

Id be wary about using any sprays/wipes that arent designed for use in animal cages.

Whereever you put the piggies make sure they are safe and cant escape

I hope they settle soon and you can get them out to bond :)

Mine get to run around the dinning room whith a big pile of salad in the middle i think i might spoil them a little .

I think it would depend on your cage/hutch. I'm rather new to Guinea Pig ownership but certainly not to cleaning up after small furries!

My two boys live in a hutch outside with a run so I spot clean them once a day and then disinfect and scrub twice a week. I'm using a small animal cage cleaner at the moment to spray on the wood but then I will be moving to a very low dilution of trigene. My pigs are happy to stay in the hutch while I'm cleaning as I do one side at a time. I do have to put an object (usually a dustpan) in the way sometimes as Wallace loves being covered in fresh hay and has nearly escaped on a few occasions!

I would say a carrier is a good thing to have for G.Pigs - you can get small cat/kitten ones for quite cheap which would be ideal. Failing that a cardboard box would do the trick so long as your pigs can't escape.

Most dettol can be used on surfaces that animals may walk on - such as cats on worktops, I'm not sure about for cages but I'm sure the principle is the same. Maybe wipe everything with dettol and then just rinse with water or go over with a damp cloth to make sure there is no residue.

ty dor advice atm piggie have sawdust stuffs, and ill prb get a carrier nxt week this is forst propper clean and I'm stugling with wher to put them lol they so small and tend to wiggle out of most things :s

Put them in a big box with some hay they will be fine for 10 minutes while you clean them out.

ther we go all clean :P, evn had shadow on my lap for a bitty, i made run out of my lil hall just blocked up the doors . ash jsut ran ion circles tho i suspect a right foot injury:/ she wotn put too much weight on it :( gunn look tomoz if still sore then when i get pennie shes off the vet to have a quick check.

I use a big wicker basket lined with a towel to put piggies in. and use kitchen roll wet with warm water and white vinegar, it kills any urine smells and is safe.

a carrier bag!:o please dont put them in one :)) i think half way to the vets you would find a pig or two missing :))
a paper primark bag can be used for them to sit in when youre cage changing.or get someone to cuddle them while youre changing the cage

and i think wiebke meant a plastic carrier BOX :)) wilkos have them cheap
