Cage cleaning day!

Finally, when the weather was nice, I decided it was time. !Time. To. Clean. The. Piggies. Run. They get there hutch cleaned once a week and there run every month. I try not to do the run as often because it uses up SO much sawdust. First, the piggies get to go into there outside run in the grass, so they didn't get disturbed by the noise. Then I took out all of there stuff ( Hideys, tunnels, cardboard tubes, food bowls etc. ) Now was the worst time. Getting all of the dirty sawdust out. I won't go into details, but one thing the piggies do which I hate is they will get their veggies out of the bowl and bury them in sawdust. And so I find half-eaten tomatoes a month later . Then I re-fill the run with freash sawdust, rearange the toys ( sometimes add a new toy! ) add lots of hay and the piggies are ready to go home. When they finally get back in the cage, there first desire is to do lots of poops and wees!!

Do you mean shavings when you say sawdust? The latter shouldn’t be used for piggies. Where is the run located? You could use a plastic base (such as a shower curtain or table cloth) and out puppy pads on top.

I use wood shavings ( non- dust + water-absorbent ) The hutch is outside.

If the pen is on grass then you don’t need shavings on there.
