Hi, I'm wondering on your opinions on the Ferplast CASITA 120cm. despite the fact its expensive, it is a good cage for 2 Piggies? I know board require larger cages however I plan on getting a pair of sows. If that doesn't work out, is the Ferplast Plaza 140 good? The reason I'm not going for that is because it is a tight squeeze as I'm limited to a space of that size max. Thank you

heya guys i am hoping to rehome 2 little piggies soon i have had 1 previously but lived in a massive self made indoor hut with a rabbit i am looking for an indoor cage but cant really decide what 1 to get could anybody help me out with the best type of cage for either 2 sows or 2 boars as I'm not sure wich yet
thank you guys :))

The ferplast Plaza/Krolik 140/160 seems great for both. Or, the Ferplast Casita 120cm is suitable for a pair of Sows only.

Hope i helped! Edit: Just realised how old you post is!

this is an ongoing thread so don’t worry about it being an old post.

a 120cm x 60cm is the minimum size a pair of sows should be kept in so if is fine but if you can fit the 140 plaza instead then it would be better for the piggies.

We have a 160 cm Ferplast Plaza and it’s a fab cage and very well made, go for as big as you can
Zooplus usually has good offer for this cage and the 140 cm too

It seems like a good cage! I live with my parents who said the 120cm is the biggest we can get but I'm sure i can convince them! The Casita looks nicer which is appealing to my mum so unless i can find another option, i may struggle, Thank you

Thank you, I just feel a little bit cruel only giving them this amount of space but as long as its acceptable, i feel a bit better

If you can persuade them to let you have the 140 it really is worth it. I know the 120 is the minimum recommended but in my opinion it is too small. By the time you get a couple of houses and the other piggy stuff in it there's really no room to move around. I up graded from a 120 to a 160 after a few months as they didn't have enough room. The bigger cage you can squeeze in your space the happier your piggies will be.

Thanks, off with the measuring tape I go! Also, how does your cage look? is it one of the nicer looking cages - i see it doesn't have the deep base other cages would have. Is that an issue if I were to use fitch bedding?

My piggies live in my shed, but I have two spare cages (for when they need to come in if it is too hot/cold) - one is a c&c but the other is the ferplast plaza 160 - it is a really lovely cage and offers such a lot of space. The base isnt as deep as other commercial cages, but is still plenty deep enough when using a disposable bedding

Are you able to create a C&C cage?

In the Uk, they seem to be quite expensive to make. My parents want a stand on wheels and the person who will look after them has a dog that will eat them (a border collie) so i need a lid as well. My parents want a conventional cage and we have good access to suitable ones

comparatively they can be cheaper given they have more space but If you don’t have the space then it doesn’t really help!
for information though, c&c cages can be put on stands or tables and can also have lids fitted to them (using additional grids)

Yes, however my parents are quite set in their ways! I personally would love a C&C cage! Thanks

Mine is a Little Friends 160x80, if you take into consideration the base slopes in it's not quite that big inside for the piggies. The base is deeper because it's really designed for rabbits. I use fleece so really the base is too deep as the piggies can't see out without standing up on the bars. This wouldn't be a problem with a deep layer of Fitch or shavings. I built a loft in mine so they can sit up there to see out easily. When I bought my cage 6 years ago I didn't see the Ferplast's I not sure they made the bigger ones then. Other than the slightly bigger width the other thing the Little Friends has over the Ferplast is it's stronger, especially the metal parts. The Little Friends cage is also a lot more expensive than the Ferplast. You can add extra pieces to the Ferplast to enlarge it which you can't with the Little Friends.
Over all if asked would I buy the Little Friends or the Ferplast if I were buying now, taking everything into consideration as mentioned above I would go for the Ferplast. It's really such a personal decision and involves compromise as far as can see, no cage is perfect.

Thank you, I have shown my parents the little Friends cage line. They don't really like the look of the cage which basically throws it out the window! not yet have I shown the the ferplast 140 Plaza.

I think the next step is to check it will actually fit in the space they will live and then confront them about this cage and see what they say.

The cage has seen some changes since this photo was taken, it now has different occupants and stands on a table but this gives you an idea. The ramp on the top fixed to the side when the door was open so that they could free roam when we were in the room with them.

Edit: I've just measured the cage which is quite snug but just about fits. My parents like the idea of the cage stands on wheels and I'm pretty sure that if I show my parents the measurements of the cage and how it will make my hopefully future piggies happier, that they will say yes!

I'm in the UK and found that a C&C was cheaper. I also have dogs so created a lid. There are ways around it but if a commercial cage is what's needed then that's fair enough.

As you know the minimum is 4ft (120cm) by 2ft (60cm) but that's for just 2 sows. The minimum is the smallest you can go before it becomes cruel.

Alternatively you can get 2 120cm cages and merge them together to make a larger cage? That being said if go with the largest zooplus ferplast one. Honestly by the time you add a couple of hay piles, 2 hides and 2 pigs 120cm starts to feel cramped

Thats what i thought. I wouldn't want it to feel cramped and then have to buy another cage. Thanks

Hey Guys, Would the Ferplast Plaza 140 cage be big enough for a pair of boars? I know they need more space so would it be enough? thanks

no it wouldn’t. My boar pair were originally in a 150cm cage (which is the minimum for two boars) and even that was too small. 180cm really is the smallest youd want for two boars. You won’t get a 180cm commercial cage though, you’d be looking at a 5x2 C&c or a 6ft x 2ft hutch.

Ok. would attaching more than one commercial cage together be ok? What is the bare minimum square footage for that?

yes connecting two together is fine but if you don’t have quite enough space for one cage, then are you going to have space for two cages?
if you connect two 120cm x 60cm cages then that would be big enough for either two boars or four sows.
Are you custom making a unit with wheels for it to be kept on?

I think in order to have a boar pair I would need to wait until i have more space. As for the stand, i'm looking on amazon or Pets at Home for the Ferplast or Little Friends ones.
