why does everyone elses cages seem better to me than my own pigs cage!
Maybe I'm just sick of looking at theirs and now I'm jealous of everyone elses..........
this always means disaster...

It has taken me just about a decade to slowly and gradually working my way up from a 50x100cm cage for two piggies to finally building my own piggy paradise in a dedicated room (all the way and still under protest from hub!), so just see it as a long term ambition and an inspiration rather than a matter of short term frustration... :mal:

There is this perception these days that you have always to start out right at the top and that you have to have it all straight away. Sadly, this concept of instant acquisition only serves to make you feel inferior and bad as soon as somebody else comes along with some even bigger! It doesn't make you feel happier or gives you the warm glow of accomplishment as you get there under your own speed, and it also deprives you of your dreams. It makes me sad because it is the little dreams that you can eventually make come true that make your life happy and fulfilled. Today, it seems only to be all about what the others have... and less about what you can make with what you have got. :(

PS: My piggies in all these years in the meantime have still had a happy and enriched life, even and especially the ones in the now too small cage; cage size is not everything! There is plenty else you can do in the way of toys and new things for your piggies to explore! ;)

I am very happy to have piggies in my life again and to be finally able to live the dream after spending two decades of my life in flats that wouldn't allow any pets at all - so that is my childhood dream about 30 years in the making. It has made me appreciate what I have even more. Pet ownership is not about having the poshest set-up, but about giving your piggies love and getting love back in turn.

I completely agree! I started with a small 3ft hutch and a 100cm indoor cage for two sows. Now they have the whole room! I love looking at everyone elses cages and their designs!

I started with an eighty cm cage then a 100.Eventually after hearing about c&c cages on here I had ten in two big c&c cages. Now have three girls in twenty one square foot run .It is flat but they have fiddlesticks tunnels, plastic tunnel and soft tunnels.I do like lofts and things but due to a medical condition I have to keep things simple so I can clean them out easily. They had a fleece forest which I am gonna put in.They seem very happy.Everyone has to start somewhere.
