I am looking at getting a new cage for 2 boars. I am aware this is recommended https://www.amazon.co.uk/Midwest-Homes-Pets-Guinea-Habitat/dp/B001NJ0DQ8?th=1 from watching the LA guinea pig rescue videos.

What's weird on amazon is the one with the divide is cheaper than the one without. Would it be best go not even have a divide, or to keep it and use the divided area full of hay for grazing and sleeping.

I am also wanting to move away from the wood shavings upon newspaper bedding to fleece, can anyone recommend guinea pig fleece for cage, as well as what to put underneath, there are the guineadad fleece cage liners, and do you add more fleece on top?

If all else fails and this is not right, then has anyone bought from kavee, there is this one 4x2 C&C Cage - Ideal for two guinea pigs

The Midwest cage in your link and the 4x2 c&c mentioned at the end are not big enough for two boars. The midwest only measures 120cm x 60cm/4ft x 2ft and the 4x2 measures 5ft x 2ft/150cm. Two boars need 180cm x 60cm/6ft x 2ft of a 5x2 c&c cage. Too small of a cage for boars can cause them problems. (the Midwest or a 4x2 c&c is fine for two sows but boars need more room to have territory each)

if you use fleece then you can either use premade fleece liners, or put puppy pads down and then lay a fleece blanket over the top.

ill add in some guides below to help you

Thanks, and on fleece front seems easier getting pre made fleece, I could never have the skill to make it, good links very useful as always. found a few online of all in one and also cage absorbant pads and other liners. are the throws from primark like a fleece top, if puppby pads are below.

I had long thought 2x3 was minimum and 2x4 was boar minimum, thanks for correcting, the teenage years is where i can see the extra space being very useful. There are lots of cages out there that are not marketed right. Without this forum i woul have ended up with this ferplast 2 level thing ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/Indoor-wooden-cottage-stylish-rabbits/dp/B01F71ARXQ ) that looks nice, but ive learnt about guineas and ramps and the space being on one level being the more important thing.

I guess if the midwest is the sub optimal size the only choice is c and c. If i can build it up off ground with storage underneath it can work, the last lot of 2 grids will be off the end suspended in air, but with 4/5 on solid ground it should not tip

oh and the last link was also useful because i am going to be spending some on the pigs pigs pigs site for more cuddlew sacks, cuddle homes and the like, its time cardboard boxes retire and they get more comy stuff

Yes you can put puppy pads down and then just a fleece blanket on top of them. You don’t need proper liners if you don’t want to, or use pads and a blanket to see how you get on with fleece before buying proper liners. My boys live in my shed but I use fleece in summer and I only use pads/blankets and not proper liners.

for boars, a c&c is good because you can make them bigger which is better for boars. a 2x3 isn’t big enough for a pair of piggies at all.

I use puppy pads but dont buy at pets at home as very pricey ,shop round. They are perfect under fleece blanket ,i just buy kiddies thinnish ones and they wash n dry quick too. i also cut up into pieces to put in high poop areas for easy change over. Works for me and my 2 boars are in our lounge!
