Hey guys, I am looking to expand my piggies cage so they have more room. The one they currently have is 28.5in X 17.2in which is fine for now since they are babies. But as we all know piggies grow in the blink of an eye. I'd like to build them another layer to their current cage so they can have room when they are older. What are some things/materials I can use for the floor and walls of the new layer?

It is great you are thinking ahead, as they cage they are currently in will definitely need expanding.

Maybe if you could post a picture or describe your current set up it would be easier to offer useful advice.
It's difficult to know where to start if we don't know what they are currently using, and also how much space you have to expand things.
As their current cage is quite small it would be better for your piggies if you could add a larger area on the same level, as one large level is a lot better than 2 small ones.

Maybe try attaching it to a run? As @Swissgreys says, one big level is better than two smaller ones.

Play pens aren’t difficult to find, and you could make one yourself out of storage cubes. Just zip tie the play pen to the cage. Maybe get some sort of ramp like this: so your pigs can access both cages.

If the cage opens by having the door come down into a ramp, just cover the wire door with something like this: Midwest Guinea pig Habitat Ramp Cover - Midwest Homes For Pets.

How many guinea pigs do you own? One guinea pig needs 7.5 square feet. From then on, you can just multiply the number of guinea pigs you have by 4, and that’s the minimum or sometimes recommended space you need in square feet.
