I bought and use the above liners from amazon.
The first 2 I bought seemed amazing. Super absorbant and the hay and hair didn't cling to them all and simply swept off. So I ordered a few more (takes 2 to cover the cage) to use in rotation.

However, now I'm finding they stink almost instantly. I've washed used ones with fairy non bio, and they seem to have come out smelling worse than when they went in. Very very strong urine smell from them after washing.
I cleaned my 2 girls out on Sunday evening and by Monday morning the whole downstairs of my house was smelly.

They're 2 young girls (approx 5 months), in a more than large enough cage in a well ventilated area. Is it likely to be this liner in particular exaggerating the smell or have I adopted some particularly smelly girls? In 15 years of having pigs I've never known girls to smell like this. And I really don't want to go back to full cages of shavings as it sets my sons asthma off.

I think it’s likely because of the waterproof layer, with most fleece liners the wee soaks through them but as those ones have a water proof type bottom it is potentially trapping the pee and making it smell.

Some people do find that liners with a waterproof bottom smell much more quickly.

A sandwiched liner made with fleece on the bottom, an absorbent layer in the middle and then a fleece layer at the top works well.

I don’t use fleece often, but when I do I just put down some puppy pads on the cage floor and then a single layer of fleece blanket on top.

All of the above but also it says cotton top and I’ve always found anything cotton stays wet and goes very smelly fast, unlike fleece that does wick away the moisture.

Thanks all for your help.
Not sure why I expected a waterproof layer to be a good thing. Makes sense that they smell really!
Think ill get rid of these and find some nice fleece and bath mats like I had for my last pair of piggies.
Thanks all!
