Cage Liner?

so I really want to start making my own cage liners and lap pads as a hobby and because I like to treat my piggies!
I have done research and a lot of people use mattress protectors as the absorbant layer in between the fleece, and some people use towels. I just wondered what you thought was the best thing to use? is it better to use both or one or the other? or something completely different?
Sorry if this has been posted before, I just couldn't see much convo about it lol

I've order some zorb. Its 10x more absorbent. I haven't tried it yet.

I did one with a mattress protector but am keeping an eye out for washable incontinence pads for next time as I wasn't too impressed.
