Cage Liners

Am seriously considering getting my girls on a cage liner

Rory is currently recovering on lap pads and he seems so happy and content on them. Plus it is pretty easy to clean up and change too (compared to hay and megazorb)

Thoughts on using cage liners?
The cleaning process?
How often they need changing?
Can you get waterproof ones?

All my furry pets over the years, including the current gang, have preferred fabric. One of my piggies, Hazelnut, will not walk anywhere unless there is some sort of fabric underfoot.

I haven't used cage liners myself, although do use waterproof terry towelling mattress protector under fleece or vetbed, which is similar to using cage liners. You should be able to get away with poop pickups once daily and complete wash once weekly. I haven't seen any waterproof ones, which means you might always have to have something absorbent underneath.

Many members have cage liners, so hopefully you'll get some good answers soon.

I use cage liners, I have a sewing machine but I have to admit I'm not great with it! So I ordered mine from C and E cosies and I can not recommended them enough.

I have two boys in a 2x5 with a 2x1 loft which also has a fleece liner, upstairs is their 'kitchen' so I have a litter tray in there. They mostly wee in the tray which helps.

I poop scoop twice a day, and change the fleece twice a week. I put extra fleece pads down underneath water bottles and hidey houses, which I change out more often than the big fleece, otherwise it can get smelly quickly.

They love the fleece though and popcorn every time I change which is so sweet to watch! The fleece is never wet to the touch, on the top or the bottom, so I guess they're waterproof? It takes 2 minutes to poop scoop and change a fleece over, I love how quick it is, with minimal waste. I would say they are more high maintenance than megazorb, but in my opinion it's worth it!

I wash mine in a pillow case so piggie hairs don't block my washing machine. The loft fleece I actually take it outside to give it shake before it goes in the washer due to my boys being messy eaters so hay and pellets go everywhere!
