Hi,

Can cage mates tell if the other is sick? Our boy is very poorly and his cage mate (son) wont leave his side:(

Yes often they can tell.
I hope your poorly boy is ok. What is wrong with him?

He has a large mass in his bladder. At the moment the vet has given pain meds as theres nothing else they can do:( he's still eating, drinking and pooping but we think it's only a matter of time before he will need to be PTS. It's breaking our hearts.

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear that.
Treasure the time you have with him, spoil him and we will all be here to support you

I had two girls, Hunca Munca and Jemima. All the time I had them I never saw any physical contact between them, although they got on fine. When Jemima was dying Hunca Munca stayed by her side pressed close the whole time. So yes they definitely know.

I definitely think they do, when boar Ted was very weak after a dental a couple of years back his brother Bill sat by the entrance to their little house in their run (it was summer) all day long and he wouldn’t shift. So sorry you little piggie is so poorly, make special times together x
