I posted a bunch of questions in my introduction post, but was advised to separate them into their respective sections. So here I am!
First question involves building the cage. I was wanting to do 3' x 4' for two (undecided yet on a neutered boy and girl or just two boys) but a C&C cage, while awesome, would be too expensive. At $30/grid, which is the price I found online shipping included, it would cost almost $800 to do a covered cage--and since I have rats, it would have to be covered, so there are no incidents while they were free ranging. So I was thinking of using little metal poles either ziptied or welded together (if I can find a welder to do it lol) and wrapping hardware cloth around that. Ideas?
Also, I was wondering what the cage essentials are--I know hay, which I was going to use in a full third of the cage, as bedding and food in hay manger, and I also know about having at least 1 more hide than you do guineas. Plus food and water, of course. What else?
