Hello I’m new to the group! I have two girls right now, Nora and Sylvia! They are wonderful and bring so much light into my life. They live in a 2x6 C&C cage. Well I have fallen in love with this pink-eyed white Guinea-Pig pig baby at a shelter! She’s so sweet and I was approved to adopt her, so Adaline is coming home Thursday! I want to expand my cage once introductions are successfully hopefully. Would a 2x8 be enough space for 3 girls? I just want to make sure everyone has enough room and I overthink everything I swear ‍♀️

Welcome to the Forum.
:wel:

Your current cage is big enough for 3 girls, but of course more space is always better.
Just remember it is very important to do all of the initial introductions in neutral territory.
Regardless of the cage size, you can't just pop your new girl in and hope for the best!

Oh of course! I wasn’t just going to throw her in there and hope for the best. I have a quarantine cage set up and the extra cubes/coroplast for if things don’t work out. I just worry they will be cramped!

I have 3 guinea pigs in an 8 x 2 c and c cage. It is a fab size for them. A hay area each end and three ikea dolls beds in the middle fleece lined area!

Hope the bonding goes well when the time comes, your new sow sounds very sweet.

Welcome!

I have 3 girls in a 5x2 with a 2x2 L shape so 14 grids floor space. They love it.

Thank you so much I really want to move my cage to the other side of the living room and make it into a 3 by 8, just gotta convince the hubby lol! I can’t wait to redecorate their cage with the added space. The rescue called this morning and said Adaline was ready to come home early so we actually picked her up this morning! So so excited :)

2x6 or 2x8 C&C cages are both great sizes for 3 sows. I always go with the "bigger the better" that is why I will be expanding my cage to 2x19

Alright I’m going to need you to come convince my husband of that! 2x19 would be an absolute dream!

Lol. I currently have a 2x15 C&C, hoping to expand the cage tomorrow. Just got more wood pellets and coroplast and washing the fleece today. You can see a huge difference when they are in a big enclosure.

Oh definitely! My girls came out of their shell so much more once I upgraded them from a 2x4 to a 2x6. But the best I can do in my house is a 3x8 so around Christmas time we will be building that! Good luck adding onto your cage! :)

Welcome to the forum it sounds like your girlies are going to be very spoilt and I'm sure they will love the increased space in the cage... of course we will need pigtures of your gorgeous girlies.

Thank you! They are so very spoiled! I will get up some more pictures of Nora and Sylvia soon! And I’ll get a few of Adaline once she gets better settled in!

Wow! 3x8 would definitely give them lots of space. I thought about doing it 3 wide but I think I would have a hard time reaching.

Here is a video of my 2x15

OH MY GOODNESS! My girls would love that! How many piggies do you have? I am a bit worried about reaching but hopefully it’s not too much of an issue!

I currently have a 2x12 C&C cage for a herd of 8 (including one neutered boar). Plus they have a 2x2 loft.

On the weekend, I will be removing the loft AGAIN and sticking it to the end of the cage, forming a 2x14 for 8 piggies.

The pigs love the loft. Even tiny Squidge uses it...but it's in the way and the piggies congregate under it

I like the concept of lofts but I don’t very much enjoy dealing with them. Such a big cage, I’m sure your piggies love it!

I had a loft on mine for a while but couldn't get under it properly to clean and they didn't use it much. I added it to the floor space instead.

A few years ago with my pair of boys I fostered, I tried a loft and that is exactly why I took it down! It was so hard for me to clean under!

I too had a loft and it was a nightmare to clean under it. I literally had to crawl under to clean the poop. Love the concept though
