Hey everyone
I have 2 guinea pigs that currently have a 2x4 cage but I’m redoing there set up when I get back from holiday in around 2 weeks I’m deciding between a 4x4 or a 2x6 cage what would be better thankyou

That’s the beauty of c&c - you can make it whatever you prefer!

The only thing is that a 4x4 is impossible to reach across so you would have to get in the cage to do anything at the back of it, so it depends how annoying you would find that!

Don’t forget to use soiled bedding in the new cage as you need to transfer scent so they still recognise it as their space. Changing cage size is a change in territory and will usually cause them to go into two weeks of reasserting dominance (even in pairs that have always been together). Some pairs can be more sensitive to this than others

Reacting to group or territorial changes: Dominance and group establishment/re-establishment

Thankyou I didn’t know you had to use solid bedding but I definitely will! It will still be the cage there in now just another one added so hopefully they will be okay when I changed to a c&c cage they were completely fine and so much happier I was influenced to buy a pet shop cage worse thing I ever done it was way to small but they was only in it for 3 weeks until they got the cage their in now but I feel like there have outgrown it so they need a bigger one

You are changing their territory size by adding more grids to it so the new part is unknown to them hence the importance of making it smell like them.

A 2x4 is actually the recommended size for two sows (it’s not something they will outgrow as such) so there is nothing wrong with it as is, but of course if you can and went to give them more space then that’s always good!

Not sure if I should post this but Cage Creations do any size base . Fits C&C perfectly. I have had several sizes.

Very reasonable prices and quick dispatch to UK.

I’m not associated with them in any way. Just a happy customer.
