Hi everyone!
My partner and I are wanting some guinea pigs to live in our flat with us. We have a space thats 2x5ft for a cage and we were just looking for some recommendations for type of cage as to what is best for them. We are only looking at a pair too.
Hi and welcome
Could you please add your country, state/province or UK county to your details? We have got members from all over the world, so sourcing cages can differ enormously. Click on your username on the top bar, then go to personal details and scroll down to location. This makes it appear with every post you make and allows us to tailor any advice to what is available and relevant where you are straight away. Thank you!
Here are the UK links for cages. A 2x4 C&C grid cage (which has the advantage that it can be double story and also can be adapted to individual spaces) is has the same ground space as a traditional cage but is roughly 75x150 cm in dimensions.
The safest place to get healthy/fully quarantined, properly sexed, handled, guaranteed not pregnant and carefully bonded guinea pigs from is a good standard rescue. This allows you to neatly avoid all the usual pitfalls that can await the unwary new owners. For a little bit more effort you get a LOT of extra service and peace of mind!
You can find information about C&C cages (including where to get them from), as well as bedding options, links to rescues we can vouch for that you are in safe hands (there is no licensing or welfare control for either breeders or rescues in English speaking countries) when adopting and lots more helpful information for new owners via our guide collection:
