I feed my piggies KMS hayloft pellets. I thought they are supposed to be lower in calcium. I use water that is filtered through my fridge. Is this good enough or should I buy bottled water for them. I only feed Boston lettuce, green leaf, red leaf lettuce, cilantro, basil, bell pepper, cucumber, and a small piece of fruit maybe once or twice a month. I still see quite a bit of calcium from my piggies on their fleece. Any other suggestions? Should I cut out pellets? I only feed them 1/8 cup a day.

I give mine kale not often but once or twice a week in small amounts. Mine also like baby carrots but I don't see any calcium pee on mine.

I don't want to give them too much calcium but I want them to have strong bones so they don't develop any bone problems later on down the road.

Wonder if it's my water or pellets? I may cut pellets for a few days to see. I don't think any veggies are causing it. I try to choose the lowest calcium veggies. I just am hoping to avoid bladder issues.

I'm not sure if you are able to get grainless pellets in the usa,but these are meant to be better.there has been good reviews on the sherwood pellets in the usa.you are giving the best diet.

I have tried Sherwood and they wouldn't touch them. 😣.

I think basil is rich in calcium. My pigs pee white stains but its only bad if it is gritty
How often do you see it? I used to see more when I was feeding oxbow. Them I switched to small pet select, then kms. KMS seems to show the least calcium so far. I am wondering about going pellet free.

I see it from one of my pigs every time i clean her out. My boar has no stains but i dont know if thats because hes still growing, hes only about 7 or 8 months old. They will live together soon, so i wont be able to tell whos is whos.

I had two boars in the past that peed loads of white stains. One never even had a health problem until he was 7. ( not urine related) and the other did get 3 bladders stones. Both of them had exact same diets.

It looks like you are doing everything right to me. Try stopping the basil. I think its high in calcium, but i dont know for sure. Take a look on google. I feed a low calcium diet, and from time to time i get worried about the stains, but i think alot of guinea pig people do

Yes. I see it on Amazon. Is that low calcium? I may try it. Thanks! Is filtered water from my fridge ok or should I buy a bottled water for them?
Is the filter still doing its job? I use a jug water filter. It has replaceable catridges. Some people wet all lettuces under the tap before feeding. My vet said its a goid way to help with flushing the bladder through
