IMG_2117.webp So I had Cali in a box on my bed, under some fleece. I heard her chewing and lifted the fleece. Cali was chewing on a plastic straw! I have no idea how it got in there! I took it away and looked at it. I figured at most about 1 sq cm of plastic. I'll post a picture. I started researching and several things said to make sure she's pooping. Cali is pooping and acting completely normal. Should I do anything else?

No, there is most likely not a problem. Just keep a casual eye on her for the next 24 hours. No extra measures needed.

See a vet asap if she is suddenly unwell, but I've had piggies that have eaten much worse, not shown any symptoms and that have lived to a very good age. ;)

UPDATE: Cali is still well! While I was researching, I remembered my late piggy Peanut had once ate a pretty huge section of a puppy pad! I rushed her to the small pet out of hours emergency vet an hour away without researching ANYTHING. When I came in and explained I'm pretty sure the only words that came out of my mouth were "guineapig...ate...bedding...please...help". A tech came out and took her nonetheless, and 10 minutes later, the vet came out chuckling to herself and smiling. With tears down my face, I said "You're gonna tell me to put her to sleep, right?" The vet then laughed even louder and said "No way! Your piggy is in perfect health! A little scared, but perfectly healthy!" Then, a tech came out with... let's just say a very excited to see me piggy. She leaped from the tech's arms to my lap! The tech said "We're not charging you anything either." I was so happy that I hugged Peanut and thanked them a million times. I think that was my best vet visit ever!
