so we have been out all day .... noticed Pippin has a small wound on her nose.. fresh bit of blood and a dried bit of blood.. its very small... have no idea what has happened :( i have cleaned it with a bit of cooled boiled salt water as i didnt know what else to do..

If it's not deep she should be fine, you did the right thing by cleaning it :) If you are worried though you could always pop her to the vets to ease your mind.

It's not a bite is it? Sows can turn into right little so and so's when they are in season.. Cocoa was stalking Khaleesi one time and trying to hump here, Khaleesi obviously got a bit annoyed and snapped at her, but it didn't stop Cocoa lol.

Oh thats a shame - certainly don't want to come home to blood... If its small then cleaning it was the best thing you can do. Keep an eye on the two of them to check it wasn't a little scuffle as it could have been a bite if they've had a disagreement.

i can't be sure @Kerrie74 ... it doesnt look deep .. i took her in the kitchen and had a good look over her and didnt see anything else apart from an odd little something on her lip ! That was covered in fur and looked like a old scab - never noticed it before.... checked Gladys out too and didnt see any wounds or blood on her but did notice her nipples were a bit big so maybe she is in season ??

Gladys has been rumbling a lot just lately when Pippin comes near her...

Hmm, try and keep an eye on them, one or both could be in season, with my girls, more so Khaleesi and Cocoa, they become little tyrants and will just keep trying to hump one of the other girls, Cocoa was doing it relentlessly one days and Aidan said Khaleesi went for her a few times, he even got her out to check she was ok, so maybe Pippin tried to mount Gladys one too many time and she nipped her. Girls are funny little things when they are in season.

I hope things settle down.

Have a look at this link, scroll to sows in season and see if it sounds like your girls

Thanks @Kerrie74 i have not witnessed any ' humping '..... unless that is what happened when we were out yesterday..

Does it look like this?
The pigs were getting a bit excited around eachother and Lola ended up with a poorly nose, it's healed well but it's a teenie bit there now.

i will try and get a photo.. just feels like dried blood today but she does not like me touching it... understandably...

tried to get a picture of her lip too but not sure if clear enough....

You prob cant see it... its like there is something stuck on her lip... but i think it might be from the 'fight'20150927_192741.webp

If the cut looks ok, try not too worry. but if you are worried then pop her in to see a vet :) I've been taking ours to "The Vet" down the road from us, we take them to see Jessica though, if you ever go... don't see Deborah.. I won't say why in public! The consultations are £16.99 there :) Oh I believe you get £5 off for the first visit. They have a site too.

Well it doesn't look too bad, only you can tell of course, if you're worried it is deep then a vet visit won't hurt :)

So... poor pip has a wound on her leg/side .. going to ring vets tomo... should i seperate tonight? 20150928_184443.webp

oh no! What is the atmosphere like in their cage? When my Jemima and Issy fell out it caused a real frosty atmosphere with no pig really wanting to be near another, there was no mistaking something was going down. If you aren't sure at all I would separate for the peace of mind. It certainly sounds like something has upset the hierarchy with rumbling going on, seasons only normally last a couple of days, if nipples are looking bigger does there appear to be any "crusting" around them which could indicate hormonal problems which could be causing a sow to be more boisterous

That looks like things have gone too far now I would be inclined to separate. I am sure someone more qualified to judge than me will be along soon to comment.

Have you saw any aggression? Just wondering if that wound may not be a wound and fungal? Hard to tell from a photo...

Only agression i have witnessed is the rumbling... i am in most of the time too ! Checked the cage, nothing sharp.. doesnt look fungal as fresh blood ... its making me sad..

Are you sure that's a wound and not fungal? (ringworm) It doesn't look like a bite but it is difficult to tell from the picture. The moisture and positioning makes me think that's not a bite.

Hmmmmmmm, I would expect aggression if it was a bite....

We have lots of nose off's and rumbling at season time. Who is the main rumbler and mounter? Or are the both at it?

I just have a feeling there is a bald patch possibly but it could be the photo and to the left two flakes it looks like on skin.

Photos are hard to tell....

ok but would it just show that fast? We have them out almost every day and i always look over her.... i have some medication left over from Gladys fungal months ago, the spray from the vet, should i apply that tonight ? I am at a loss..... Not seen any of them try and mount each other..

i will try to get a better clear photo when other half gets out the shower... she does have a small scratch in her ear too..

Don't do anything to the wound until the vet has seen it. As they can do a swab to confirm diagnosis.

It would show up almost overnight if it was. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture when Pebbles ring was at it's worse.

@artcasper If you take her to the vet I mentioned to you yesterday you don't need an appointment Mrs, it's a drop in vet, but make sure you see anyone but Deborah if you go there.
