I saw my pig today who has an upper respiratory infection and has had it for a month even on medication. We were going to get another thing of meds today then when I saw him he wasnt really moving and his eyes were little slivers. He refused to take his meds even though he always just latches onto the syringe. He is scared of being let and just sat there while I pet him. Will he be okay? We are bringing him to the vet.

Hi!

I am very sorry. Your boy is definitely not OK! Good that you have booked him in promptly!

Unfortunately only your vet can answer your question whether your boy will make it.
It is likely that he is either not responding to the antibiotic he has been prescribed, that he has been misdiagnosed or that he has an underlying problem that is suddenly coming to the fore.

Here is the link to our collection of all the necessary information and step-by-step advice for emergency and bridging care: Emergency and Bridging Care until a Vet Appointment

Fingers very firmly crossed!

Respiratory infections can get serious in a hurry and you are absolutely right to be seeing a vet ASAP. I would wonder if the antibiotic he has been taking is not effective against the bacteria that he has... a change of antibiotics is probably in order and you may need to syringe feed to keep him going if he is not feeling well enough to eat on his own. Best wishes and I hope the vet can offer something to help.

Thank you guys! We will see he is on his way to the vet right now
