piggymummy

hope theres someone out there that can help me, i'm really sad :'(

as u may have read before, I introduced my two pairs of sows which went ok, and after their meeting they went back in their separate cages again, still next to each other but not in together (is this where i went wrong? :-\ :embarassed:)

anyway all weekend me and my other half have been building and preparing a shed for them all to go in in summer and we got them a lovely new big hutch.....

Well, I introduced them again tonight and it was horrible! there was biting and nipping and my biggest piggie chased the baby round so she could nip her :'(

maybe this is all my fault for not putting them in together as soon as they'd met? hope someone can help!

thanks xx

its ok, not nice to watch i know, i have just had two boys do the same to me, just give them a bit more time and kep introducing them they will scrabble for the top pig, they will sort it out don't worry, keep your chin and big hug to you and you little pigs

thanks for support, i was nearly in tears! Silly old me :embarassed:

It was horrid to see her chase baby dorothy :-\ she likes to b the boss in her cage but shelby lets her and its never got nasty before

will keep trying

thanks x

Poor you. I can't say I've had the problems exactly, I've introduced baby Rosie to my four girls on Thursday and they've each in their own way shown her that she's not the boss but I haven't seen any vicious behaviour, no biting etc, but they do chase and nose each other around, they bump her with their nose if she starts burrowing into their tummies.

I brought each one in at a time and sat them with Rosie on a cushion in a chair together and watched what went on, but I think once they get in the hutch together they have a bit of a sort out, pecking order and all that.

I hope yours sort themselves out soon :) . Have you tried bringing them out into neutral territory like your lounge or somewhere? just a thought. Good luck with them. xx Let us know how you get on

i bought them into the lounge for the 1st meeting and after a few minutes they all calmed down(as u can see from the pic! lol) the second meeting that didnt go so well was in the conservatory in one of those pen things (they all live out in the conservatory, no sun no wind :))

anyway, will keep trying, maybe will do the one at a time intro's like u did for all 4 of mine to see?

will update when i've got some news

thanks 4 replies xx

Oh dear you poor thing, it is hard to see but i do hope they can get on real soon, keep popping them together in neutral territory try maybe a bath together so they'll smell the same O0
Good luck :)

The mistake I made was when I first introduce my pigs they were very mean so I kept them apart. I now know, that if I left them together they would become best friends, which they now are luckily. They just have to figure out who the boss is. My three have their hierarchy.

Sorry they didn't get along on the second meeting but like everyone says there will be a little scrap to start with to work out who is boss. Keep trying and keep us informed. ;)

gradually showing them to each other one at a time, and it doesnt seem to b going so bad, am doing this reallllllly slow so hope they'll get used to each other that way because certainly did not work putting them all in at once! xx

Brilliant news that they seem to be getting along at the moment and well done for not giving up. I am sure they will be the best of friends fine in the near future. Good luck and keep us informed. O0
