Hi guys, just picked up a 'herb mix' from the reduced shelf in Morrisons, looks like only one type of leaf & doesn't have a strong smell. It just smells like a green leafy veg so may not actually be a herb at all!

Does anyone know what it is?

I can't make the picture any bigger but it looks like mint to me?

It's definitely not mint. It doesn't really smell or taste of anything.
The bottom of the leaves have slightly pointy bits - that makes me think it might be sorrel? From Google images. I've never seen or tasted sorrel that I'm aware of. Not sure why the pic won't go bigger?

Ah yes, closer up the leaves aren't mint like at all. I'd have to agree with sorrel then, more so because of the red tint to the stems. I haven't tasted it either :)

From what I can find I don't think sorrel is piggy safe anyway so it was a failed attempt at reduced pig treats!

Sorrel has an acidic /sour taste a bit like lemon or unripe kiwi. You could identify it by that. I think that pretty much any leafy greens sold as salad for humans is going to be ok for piggies

Apparently it is best described as tasting like 'lemony apple peel' which is exactly right! Tastes like the skin of granny smith apples. Weird, I've never tried it before.
Apparently it is from the same family as dock leaves which can be fed to piggies but only in small amounts so I don't think I'll feed it. It did only cost 9p!

I have wild sorrel growing outside my house (which looks very similar to the photograph). It has been a godsend for Carson piggie whilst he's been ill as he has a sensitive gut and can;t eat most leafy greens.
I also feed my other piggies pre-packed salad greens which include the type of photo..with no ill effects.

In short: as with any foodstuff.....in moderation I don;t think this will be harmful to your piggies (but some may not like it!)
