but housed separate? If I get my piggies shed we may be able to get another set of boars which we will hopefully rescue! << (my numerous threads are down to excitement!) lol x-c

yes that's absolutley fine, I have two pairs of boys in the spare bedroom and other than it getting noisy in there at feeding time there are no issues :)

ok well if I sort my shed out I may be able to rescue 2 boars !eekkkkk...:))

If possible, boars should be housed away from any sows because of the pheromones when sows come into season, but there is no problem with housing boars next or above each other. You may get quite a bit of abuse shouted at next door, but that is part of boar life!

oh yes I don't have any sows thought it best not to keep them with having the boys, I just wondered if new boars would upset the relationship with my current boys, but seems it would be ok :) thx for the replies -c

My pairs of boys live next to each other and often have a little chat through the grids separating them :))
I have a small fleece blanket that I drape over the grids at night though, don't know why - just me being me ?/
So exciting planning for new arrivals xx>>>
Keep us posted on events :)

I have quite a few pairs of boars and have many in the same room. They quite like being around each other as they can 'chat'. :(|)

How far apart is advisable, between boars and sows, As we are about to adopt a rescue ( neutered ) boar and will also be adopting an companion for him. Either another boar or 1 or 2 sows. As we already have 2 boys which live together, we don't want to upset their bond if we introduce sows into our home. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. x :{

I think that depends entirely on the boars and sows in question.

In my animal room the girls and the boys are about 30cm away from each other and it has never caused a problem, but when my boars lived at a rescue and girls were in the same room there they biccured so it varies between pairs of pairs :D My boars have a 5ft x 2ft cage with an added shelf to give them more space so they dont even have the largest accomodation in the world and are still fine, they are 2 year old now just gone :D <3

I've often wondered this too....

If you were to have a boar and his ladies in one cage next to another boar and his ladies in another cage, would this cause a problem..? It's something we were thinking of doing as we have one little problem pig who seems to hate ladypigs.. haha.
