Can Fancy Rats (pet Rats) Pass Disease To Gpigs

Hi all, Hope you can help.

I am thinking of rehoming two dumbo rats but have been researching them fully off course. I wondered if anyone here knew if a healthy (or as far as you know) rat could pass anything on to guineapigs. They will be in the same room but will not be able to touch each other as rats can kill pigs. I was more worried about me passing illness from rats to pigs or viseversa.

If anyone can offer advice or links, that would be extremely helpful.

I would like to know this as well, I had a guinea and 3 rats at one point, one of the rats used to get out and see the guinea lol, but then the guinea passed away and the rats did not long after so I don't know if one had an illness and passed it or if it was the property we lived in (it was an awful council property) it may have been too cold for them.

I suspect some illnesses can be passed but I didn't know if there was major ones and if they could go in the same room. I love rats and piggies

Yeah me too We've got two mice, ten guinea's and a dog atm lol.

I am not 100% sure, but I know someone who has both rats and guinea pigs. Not sure if they are in the same room or not. A lot of illnesses can be species specific. Like if my pigs have mange mites am pretty sure my hamsters can't get them and vice versa.
