I bought a plastic litter tray recently and my pigs love sleeping on it. Is it okay for them to sleep on such hard surface? Will it be bad for their bones?

This is an example of how it looks like. He seems to enjoy it so much. We have pigloo, cuddle bed, hay tray etc. inside the cage but they usually pick this one...

I agree. So long as he has the choice to sleep somewhere more cosy if he wants then that is fine. My piggies' favourite place to sleep is on top of piles of hay.

So long as he has softer beds available should he want to use them, he is absolutely fine sleeping there x
Their another favourite is the fleece hammock, which I can imagine it is very cosy to sleep on. Usually one would sleep on the hammock and the other one on the litter tray 😅

They seldom use the pigloo and cuddle bed. They do rest on the hay but I never see them sleeping on it with their eyes closed (which they always do so on the hammock and litter tray).

I know this is older post, but I find it strange that despite having nice comfy spots to sleep, one prefers on the floor in a wood house and the other on top of the wood house. They both have a wood house (as well as comfy fleece pockets), but one sleeps on the roof for some reason, lol. However they're comfortable I guess.

LOL! He wouldn't stay there long enough to harm himself... he's clearly decided it's a nice little bed for him!

When I was a kid I had pet mice, one of them used to always empty the food dish completely and store the food in the corner (it took awhile, as they don't have cheek pouches or anything- she had to carry individual seeds/pellets over to the corner.) Then she would curl up in the food bowl to sleep. She had a little hut where she was actually covered, but she never slept anywhere but the dish.
