Can guinea pigs break wind?

Do you ever hold your pigs in your hand and feel bubble like poppings from their rear end? Thats a piggie. I think mine take pride in seeing who can do the most while I'm holding them and then at night when back in the shed...compare scores!

Thats what comes from a fresh fruit and veg diet.

Some can break the equivalent of a hurrican compared to their size after the first day out on the grass in spring! *holds her nose*malletheadmallethead

I swear the one of my guinea pigs actually made a little 'pffft' sound when she broke wind. I kid you not!

honestly, my Pheobe and Ruby trump like there's no tomorrow! So does Sonny. My Bethany and Maggie-May are more the silent but deadly types!

This made me laugh so much! I can't say I've heard/smelt mine break wind! Althought boar smelly is smelllllly!

They sure can!

I believe the terminology (from my Piggies adopted Uncle 'oop north' ) is that they have "floated an air biscuit" :)):))

On a serious note - if it is particularly rank or out of character- and their abdomens are particularly noisy.....check their diet/guts for possible early signs of bloat.(excess carbohydrates from either processed food or root veg are indicative) .and be alert to changes....

Infacol (0.15ml) twice daily is great for "getting rid" provided there is no obstruction...

My sow Bea has broken wind loudly twice today...once while on my lap just now (nice!) and I picked her up to have a look down below and there is a clear discharge coming from her vagina.

Should I be worried? She's not crying or making any noise when I touch her tummy and isn't bothered by it at all.

My two boys are most definately farters! Although they do get blamed for ones that I'm sure come from my boyfriend!
A sure sign Spike needs to go to the toilet when I'm holding him is a gurgle from his tummy, fart then he grabs my jumper in his mouth and frantically pulls three times, you then know you've got to put him down fast! or he's going to leave you a present. lol
