image.webp image.webp The top pic is Fudge when I got him. I was told he was 2 and a half years old. The bottom pic is recently. I was looking at old pics and there's a striking difference between them. Could he possibly have been a younger boar than they said? Confused :help:

My piggies have all got lighter as they have got older (except the white ones) - some of them must go grey like humans.

I suppose they must. It's just strange he used to be a lot darker as you can see on the pic.

It's quite common for piggies to go a shade or 2 lighter as they get older. I've noticed Toast's tan patch getting lighter lately

I have no idea about coat colour change - just wanted to say that Fudge's marking are gorgeous
Sorry to be so naive, but what type of guinea pig is he?

He's a Himalayan, :D

My friends pig was pure white, with dark eyes when they got her. She slowly turned grey as she aged

:D Self reds, particularly, go darker as they get older (or is it the other way around?). Your boy does look a lot duller in the bottom photo and glistening white in the top one. But that may be just the light. The again, he is bound to get a bit dusty and dirty over time, although he may appear quite clean to our eyes.

It's the brown colour that's faded. And you can hardly see the white stripes anymore he just looks cream all over.

Fred and George's ginger has faded as they age (George has developed new pure white patches) but Rodney's ginger has deepened.

Incidentally Daphne the hamster was white with pale grey spots when we got her about 3 months ago, but the spots are almost back now.

I wish my hair changed colour like that- save me a fortune in hair appointments!

Himalayans can change colour over time (I've actually read temperature is a factor.) Some other colors fade with age- Sundae has lilac on her face that was quite dark greyish as a young one and at age 6 has faded to almost white along her nose.
