can guinea pigs eat chestnuts?

My husband took away a chestnut from our piggies this morning: they tried to play with it and scratched it by attempting to get inside to eat it.
Does anyone know if it's ok for pigs to eat chestnuts (not as a main meal, of course, but since they like to play with them)?

I wouldn't have thought they could eat them but i'm not 100% sure :^-

I would have to say no as they shouldn't eat nuts or seeds

If it's a Horse Chestnut they are poisonous
