hi, I wanted to make some treats for my 2 guinea pigs and a recipe says that i should add "coconut flour". before i added it i was wondering, can guinea pigs eat coconut flour?

The best treats for piggies are always the simplest ones- fresh herbs, and posh hay. A good healthy piggy treat is to fill a plain brown paper bag with soft hay and 4 or 5 stems of fresh coriander/cilantro or parsley- maybe a tiny bit of carrot or apple chopped very small as an occasional high calorie treat- and let them enjoy the fun of rooting around for the bits of veg as a natural foraging behaviour :)
Treats are more about enrichment and play behaviour than just about the calories!

Yes I definitely agree, a massive hay pile makes my lot far more excited than a tiny treat that takes seconds to munch (and then they want more!). They can be in there for hours!
Hay cookies are good as well as herbs if you want to give them a bit extra too, always enjoyed by all of my piggies over the years (and just hay so can munch all day if they want, they get a bit tricked too thinking it’s naughty when it’s just hay!)!

When I first adopted Patsy it was obvious that she had never had a hay cookie before as she ran away from it as fast as the other 2 ran towards it! She saw them munching, approached very cautiously, was very brave and took a tiny bite and ran off then decided it was rather yummy and went back for a second bite and stayed munching it. Next time I popped a hay cookie down for them she was one of the first there.

Yes hay cookies too they are just compressed hay that takes a lot of chewing, and also a lot of tactical stealing from each other, hay cookie rugby in the playpen is a sunday favourite with my lot!

A sprinkle of natural forage such as you can get from Piggie Parcels is also good fun.
I scatter it around the cage so they have to forage for the pieces.
Mine also love a handful of green oat grass as a treat.
