Can I give third dose of metacam in the night?

The vet has prescribed .040 of metacam twice a day for my underweight 710 gram girl. I have read they metabolose this in ten hours, which would mean she would go without pain relife during the night while I'm.asleep. I've just gotten into bed,but could I set my alarm and give a third dose at 3:00am? Thanks for any help.
 
* admin please delete if able, I'm not sure how. It would just be tonight she has to go without for a long stretch as first dose was given 4pm today

Hi!

What kind of metacam are you giving - dog or cat? 0.04 is just about a drop and a minimal dose.
0.4 ml of dog metacam is about at the upper end. Dog metacam is three times stronger than cat metacam.
 
As Wiebke has already stated ...... some vets are happy to prescribe dog Metacam for guinea pigs at a dosage of 0.4mls per kg up to twice a day .

Your vet has prescribed a very low dose so, although we can’t advocate giving three doses a day , the total daily dosage won’t do any harm .
