Well before i got my girlies i got a "bonded pair of boars" tango and jive who were not well bonded from a breeder and they did NOT like each other so i took them to a rescue8.... Decided i couldn't choose between them and decided to have 2 new guinea pigs which i love dearly, and i even fostered tango back again after he had been in the wars and needed nursing back to health. Yesterday i spent the day at the rescue and i know both tango and jive are going for the snip as they cannot seem to make friends with anyone the same sex. So i had some cuddling time with both and i now feel really bad as i want jive back, my cage is big enough, my girls in the past have lived with a boar, but my bf is not keen on numbers going up worried about the slippery slope. But he was my "monkey man" he is such a comical character and lovely to be around and i mean lovely makes your heart sing lovely, bf suggested waiting awhile but i don't want just any new piggy I want monkey man Jive

AAAAAAAhhhhhhh why is life like a bag of cats!

I think you can have it all can't you? I am SURE you can convince your boyfriend. After all he will be in the SAME cage so no extra expense or cleaning (usually something that puts them off), he will cost virtually nothing extra to feed as you are already buying all the stuff he will eat. Plus you will be really happy and more to the point happy with your BF for being such a sweetie.

It sounds like you CAN do this pretty easily and you definitely don't seem like the kind of girl to get on a slippery slope, you seem really disciplined and together.

Get him back!

If you want him that bad, you will regret it forever if you let him go. Men always come round in the end so don't worry about BF. ;) My BF went crazy when I got mine, we argued for days but now he asks if he can stroke them! ;)

I wants pics of him too when he comes home. ;):(|)

I even said i would like him instead of a birthday present, i don't want to push my luck with the bf, he is a clean freak and the only bit about cleaning up he likes doing is the disinfectant!:) but it just felt so right carrying him round with me

sod the boyfriend and get your piggie back, dont even tell him youre getting him wait til hes out and go get jive and see how long its takes your bf to notice :) once youve got him at home bf isnt going to send him back is he

I'm not sure on that. Eleanor does regular volunteering for me and therefore I think BF might say take him back especially as he knows I would.

I think that Jive will be great with the 2 girls Maybe i will try and plead the neutering situ with him as well and see if that helps.

I could see it almost broke Eleanors heart yesterday to go home without him.

I am not going to have a fight with my boyfriend plus i can't go out on my own, chris is very observant and would notice and extra piggy at dinner time when he feeds them their nuggets! Plus we are a partnership, we make decisions together and i would like to think i would never go behind his back like that!

I've found persistance is they key. My fiance is a clean freak too and thinks I am a bit obsessive. Like you I'd never get a pet without his permission and although he never really wanted them when I explained how happy they make me he understands.

I now have 6 buns, 2 piggies and 2 gerbils. Bunny number 5 has a couple of probs and is a real people bunny so has won the other half over - I think I have an animal lover in the making now!

Now his moaning is more along the lines of 'the pets get fed better than me', 'you spend more time with them'...than 'not another pet?!' :))

what is it with men being clean freaks? My hubby is the same (although you wpuldn't know coming in our house, that's cos I'm so good at ruining it:)):))).

If your boy is due to have the snip, there would be no issue of a growing herd, would there? Perseverence is the key...

I am still working on him..... but i have yet to let Fi at him, and cottonbud has been in season and drving poor furby crazy! Will having a neutered boy mean that when the girls are in season they will leave each other alone? I want that little man will see him again this week will have to chat to Fi and find out when he is going in for the snip?

Have modified the cage in the hope to minimise hay on the carpet -- hoping for brownie points fingers crossed

Keep going at it.

It's not like you just want another piggy. You clearly love this little guy and you want keep HIM. You didn't just say "I want another piggy". There's a difference between simply wanting more and wanting to give a certain piggy (Who you've clearly fallen for!) another home.
I'm sure you can make your boyfriend understand that.

Right down all the facts.
Even find reasons why it would be good for your girls.
Right down how it won't cost anymore, won't take up anymore space, how you'll be giving a lovely little guy a forever home.
Right down all the pluses and then show them to your boyfriend.

That's how I got my first 2 boys. Cept it was my dad that needed convincing.
Worked a charm!

Well Jive monkey man is definitely worth it, just have to keep nibbling away at him i suppose till he gives in.
