Hello,
I have 3 guinea pigs who I currently keep in my garage but bring outside during the summer day, I have them a run and hutch, the hutch is two story and have filled with substrate to keep them warm however I still move them inside during nights, as it’s getting warmer I was thinking of having them outside permanently but during summer nights it’s still only 10 degrees Celsius/50 Fahrenheit, it should be getting warmer at night soon but is this too cold still? Should I keep them inside over night at the moment? Also the hutch is fox proof,
Thanks

Guinea pigs should be kept in temps. between 65-75 Fahrenheit not to hot and not cold, if it’s too hot I would but a frozen water bottle wrapped in a towel, piggies are very prone to heat stroke as they can’t really sweat, if it’s too cold please take them inside!

I keep my pigs outdoors permanently. I don't have a run attached to the hutch though and my hutch is on small legs so raised off the ground. This means when it is colder the pigs aren't affected by cold rising through the ground and also prevents any potential predators burrowing under the run to get at them. I also have extra protections in place. I have a weatherproof cover, an insulating layer underneath with a fly screen, I have some slate to help remove body heat in hot weather and finally an ice pod for particularly hot days. I also make sure they have plenty of shade when they go in to their separate run as well as having their hutch in a very well sheltered area of the garden.

Mine are very much used to it now and it's all they have ever known so there might be a bit of building up the amount of time they are outside so it's not too big a shock
