Can I Separate A Pair?

I have a pair of sows I was considering separating. They are not very close and bicker often but it's never violent. They would be able to hear each other with the new cage configuration I was considering. They would also have floor time together still. Is this okay or should I come up with a way to connect their new cage(s)?

Please keep them together and rather give them a shared care that allows them to get away from from each other if they wish to.

Guinea pigs don't do play dates; for them it is always bonding time after any separation.
