have ordered some xeno450 online to treat my piggys with (it was cheaper than getting it from the vets) and am about to put in an order with gorgeous guineas for some lotions but with the uk postal strikes I'm guessing its going to take at least another week to get over here, so i was out and about yesterday and came across some bob martin, 'my little friends' insecticidal shampoo? could i try using this on the guineas to soothe there skin a little? it says it contains pytherins and is a non irritant shampoo? is it worth a try?
ive also been reading up on how teatree creams are good for small animals skins, and have seen that johnsons do a small animal tea tree cream, does anyone know whats in it? has anyone tried tea tree cream on their little friends skin?

also, can i treat a pregnant piggy who has skin problems? or do i wait until shes given birth? i have a sneaky feeling one of the sows are pregnant as shes been gaining wait and looking a lot larger than her sister :( as i know nothing about them from before they were dumped at my door, I'm guessing its entirely possible they were living with males and could both be expecting. it never dawned on me before until i started noticing the weight gain :(

just been reading through a few other threads, am i right in thinking i can use NEEM oil on pregnant piggys to help their skin?

Hi spishkey, sorry no-one got back to you - I think most of us have been tied up elsewhere and those who saw your thread were not sure how to advise you correctly.

The best person to talk to about treating pregnant sows with skin problems, is Chrissie at Gorgeous Guineas. It is well worth sending her an email; give her as much information as you can about both the sow and the skin problems/symptoms, and she will give you the advice you need.

Unforutunately the health care of pregnant sows and pups is one of my areas of weakness, I have not learned the basics of that yet!
