Can mites bite us?

This might sound like a really stupid question but can the mites currently on my piggies bite me? I have bites all over my feet and they are so itchy. I'm trying to figues out where they come from and just wondered if mites can live in my carpets when my piggies have them and bite me?

It depends what kind of mites you are dealing with.
